Mool

Mool (origin) brings together different indigenous art practices in the country – rooted in longstanding traditions. These have evolved from different murals and religious imagery in different parts of the country The contemporary works depict folklore and the artists’ present environment, as well as the traditional imagery.

Their contemporary observations and individual touch highlight the need (and the endeavour of the gallery) to decolonise our perspectives and recognise not just a ‘style’ /type of art but individual artists as done in other contemporary contexts.
