VISHAKHA APTE Born 1966, Nasik, Maharashtra has graduated from the Sir J. J. School of Arts, Mumbai in 1987. She has Received several awards and honours, including the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society-New Delhi 1996, National award for 41st National Exhibition of Contemporary Art -New Delhi 1998, Bombay Art Society 1997, Maharashtra State Art Academy 1994, Honourable mention in National Exhibition- New Delhi 1995 and 4th International Print Biennale-Bhopal 1997. Apte has held several solo shows at New Delhi 1997, Mumbai 1996 and Bhopal 1995 and her works have been represented in many international and national exhibitions such as the ones held in Finland 1998; Vitoria – Brazils 2000; Havana- Cuba 1993, and many others at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal and Jaipur. She has been part of several camps on printmaking. Her works have been acquired by institutional and individual collections in India and abroad especially in National gallery of Modern Art-India and Ostrobothnian Museum, Finland. The artist presently lives and works in Bhopal.
